Under an overcast sky and drizzles and downpour, our Kailian gather just an hour away from Vancouver. Nestled amidst the farms and fields of Aldergrove, the Cordillera descends upon the local athletic park. Nearing the overfilled parking lot, you can hear the voices of our kindred, their voices announcing our presence in the quiet suburb of the Fraser Valley. When I entered the park the colours of our homeland, and the atmosphere of our mountain domain reverberate within our people, congregating as one.
The echoes of the Highlands of Igorotlandia in the music of our gongs, our food, our laughter and our camaraderie.
Here are the few faces that we were able to capture and a small reflection of who we are.
Dancing our traditional rituals and garbed in our heritage we are more than represent our culture, we are alive, and our lineage thrives. Our lives breathe the spirit of our ancestors.
